I'm using up some vacation days left over from last year and doing a little late season deer hunting at the same time. It's been unseasonably warm here in Central Illinois the last few days, and along with the warmth it's also been very windy. Yesterday the wind was just too much to climb a tree so I decided to take a handful of stumping and small game arrows and stay on the ground. I guess the wind was too much even for squirrels, but I did get a shot at a rabbit and stalked to within 20 yards of a bedded doe. I couldn't seal the deal on the doe, but I killed a nice stump a little later. As a side note, when that stump used to be a tree it held one of my tree stands.

Sounds like some good times outdoors. Here lately I've been more content stumping than hunting.

Thanks for sharing. When your stump shooting target used to be your tree stand perch, it makes you realize how many years have gone by.

The higher percentage of gray in my beard each year adds to that realization too [smile].
