I have a Tim Meigs long bow ser# M6878-339 it has tip wedges, should I be using B50 or is F.F. ok thanks in advance Burt. I was told it was made in 1978 ?

If it were me, I would go with B50.  Sounds like a nice bow.  Best of Luck!

You might also want to consider B55.  It is advertised as safe for older bows but has a bit less stretch .  I have it on my Anderson Skookum.

  Strictly depends on what you want to do. There is really no such thing as a "FF compatible bow" or if there is nobody ever made it public. Lots of folks do and have for a longtime used low stretch modern string materials on vintage bows a lot older than that one. The important thing about a string is the string nocks be properly constructed and in good shape and that the string fill the nocks correctly.

  Personally, I use B-55 a whole lot. I use 10 strands of B-55 for bows in the 55lb. range and add or decrease strand count as braw weight changes.
