Up for sale is a 67.5" 58#@28" Osage self bow by Carson Brown of Echo Archery(and also Surewood Shafts) in Oregon. It's quite literally the best performing self bow I've ever shot, from an amazing piece of wood, and in excellent condition. It has an English profile when strung, and is a very narrow Pyramid design with pencil narrow horn overlay tips designed for FF string.

It has slight backset at rest, and is still straight with no string follow/set after a shooting session. Silent and mild hand feedback, it's never been drawn beyond 28" to my knowledge, and probably isn't meant to be. Designed to shoot off your knuckle like a JD Berry Heritage - no rest. You could add a strike plate to the right side and shoot this bow Left Handed as well. It was entered in the 2013 Primitive Archer Bow Trade, and won by a bowyer friend who passed it along to me (He referred to it as the hunting bow he'd been trying unsuccessfully to build in many attempts). Only modification is that I wrapped the slender Ostrich grip with natural cord from the grip of a vintage saltwater surf spinning rod to make it fuller because it was too small for me - no glue/easily removed if desired. A true elk hunting capable bow that's just too heavy for my shoulder comfort now. It's quick - I've chrono at 160fps with my 606gr DF Surewood hunting arrow. This bow deserves to be hunted, not collecting dust. I know I could reduce the weight, but have my own build Osage self bows to reduce. More pics avail with inquiry. Price reduced to $300 (Pay’t by Cashiers Check, If requesting pay’t via PayPal please add 3%) TYD CONUS

Greetings,
Can you provide a photo without that wrap on the handle and at rest?
Looks like a beautiful bow.
Thanks
Tim

Hello Tim,
I’ll look for a pic of the handle before I added the cord wrap(prefer not to remove it for a pic because I don’t have any more of that cord and the way it’s secured without glue it won’t be long enough to reuse. I’ll also add another unstrung profile pick...the 3rd from bottom shows it pretty well, and also shows tip profile. This bow is a “shoot off your knuckle” type like the JD Berry Heritage.

Here’s pic unstrung showing slight about 1/2” backset of Osage alongside a couple J. Hills that have heavy approx 1 1/2” backset.... if this works from my phone.

That's perfect.
Thanks much.
Let me rub the lamp consult the genie living in my wallet.
I have bought bamboo backing and a couple of string from Carson, and many shafts from Surewood. I currently have more selfbows than I know what to do with. Or, at least arms to shoot them with. But that is a very nice one!

Guess I don’t have a pic of the handle before the wrap. Sorry. It’s very pretty, but quite slender...think “fat broom stick” without the wrap to make it fuller...the bowyers preference...I’ve shot some of his other self bows that are similar.

BTT and price reduced to my bottom$. If you're in the market for a self bow, you'll be hard pressed to find a better bow at a better value - $345 TYD CONUS

Lack of response on this is telling me either my timing is bad, this is overpriced for a self bow, or I'm not reaching the right audience with this. I'm trying a final price reduction before I remove my listing.  Working on funding another bow purchase as is typical, so I'd like to move it this month.  $300 TYD CONUS. I'm also open to trade offers like a 40-50# range recurve or longbow that happens to be the right "something" that I haven't tried/owned before. Forum feedback is also welcome either in the thread or PM.  Thanks for looking.

Probably all of the above, so dont read too much into it...take it from someone that buys/sales a lot of bows, I sit and scratch my head most time on what tickles folks fancy...

heavy self bow shooters are a tiny segment, your bow is an awesome value, dont give it away. Carson is an exceptional bowyer...

I would suggest the FB buy/sell groups, and of course LW, if you havent already
