I had previously given one of my son-n-laws a very used 45# Grizzly. it was in need of a good sanding and refinishing but was still a very solid bow. He finally cleaned it up some and had some questions so the wife and I went over for the evening. I took a few bows, some arrows and a tennis ball. After a few minutes talking about form and anchor points, he began shooting at the tennis ball. His front lawn is rock free and perfect for this plus we were using blunts just for knocking the tennis ball around. He didn't hit the ball very many times but his shots were getting closer and tighter in groups.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                He needed an arm guard really bad but kept shooting anyways. (He has one that he later found as well as a better glove). I told him that besides just being fun to do, shooting like this was also a great stress release. He had a blast and after we left, he hunted for and found the arm guard and glove as well as a hip quiver. This turned into a great release for him, he drives a train and had two human fatalities in less than a year. It was good to see him smiling and having fun again. Now he is looking at really refinshing the bow correctly. I am fixing him up with some more arrows and blunts just for his yard shooting. I also gave his wife a 35# Pony which she loves and plans to shoot with him. And so another Trad shooter is hooked!

Well done.  I'm sure he and his wife will find hours of pleasure and stress free relaxation in the near future.

I volunteer repairing arrows for an outfit called Boulder Crest. They help veterans with PTSD in learning shooting archery.
