I really don’t know why I visit other archery sites, as well as this one and look through bows for sale. That can only stimulate a part of the brain, that I apparently have very little control of. Ten or so years back I shot a bow that I was excited by. It was a Sovereign Sonoran r/d longbow. John Fazio probably built thousands of them, but I’ve only seen one till now. It wasn’t the most beautiful, it wasn’t the quietest, it wasn’t the most accurate, but holy smokes, it was stable, and could really zing an arrow! I never see them come up for sale, especially in the weight range I would have wanted, 55 to 58#@28”. Sure enough, one showed up on another site, and I pounced on it. So, 62”, 58#@28”, riser looks like Osage and Cocobolo. Looks like stained quilted maple veneers, and guessing hard rock maple core. I doubt I’ll be using this as a regular on the 3D course, but I’d feel pretty darn comfortable using it on any hunt.

Fazio was one of the best! He made me a few ballistiks and I had a carbon Sonoran in the process when he passed. I always enjoyed my conversations with John. You did good. Congrats!

Sometimes impulse buying can be a good thing.

That's a real tasty-looking bow. I have stick envy.

I was pretty certain just through communication with t he seller, that he was a stand up guy. The bow was in better condition than I expected. There are no identifying marks or print on the bow,, but the story is that John Fazio built this bow for his friend and partner Bruce Boughn, who started Chaparall Archery. John actually designed all of those bows. The bow then went to the 3rd musketeer named Jeff, who is a full time hunting guide in New Mexico, where the 3 of them worked and played, and hunted together. I got the bow from Jeff.
