The Hill recurves came on the market in the early 1960's, I'd say 1961 or 62.

Maybe a silly observation but I wonder if Hill got compensation for his remarks? I know Hill sold a recurve but did he actually make it? Have read that Ben Pearson made them for him? I used to shoot with a man back in the mid 70’s that had one. Using the MicroFlight arrows that bow wasn’t a slouch in the trajectory area either. Thanks for sharing the article.

Tom:

The first Hill proto type recurves were made by John Schulz, I believe John said he made the first 7 or 9 bows. The production bows were made by Jim Darling. Jim was one of the top recurve shooters in So. Cal during the late 50's through the 60's he also manufactured the Hill Longbow for Shawnee archery when they too over the production and sales for Howard. I have one of the proto types that John made and a couple of the production bows in my collection. I remember showing the proto type to Gene Wensel several years ago, he looked at the writing on it and said that's John Schulz's hand writing! and its serial #0007.
