Appears these others were taken in Ontario, Canada also.

It could be the same Moose in this one and the next 3.

A couple more. Notice the name Cliff Lake Lodge. There is a lodge by that name in Ontario.

Happy you all are liking the pics.

Yehwa, don't know at this time if there are any photos of Fred and Howard together. The album I'm going through does have a few pics that I need to examine a bit closer. There may be a surprise in store. We'll see.

Wasn't there a well publicized antelope hunt contest with Fred and Howard as two of the participants. I guess wires got crossed and tempers flared.

Chuckc,

In Fred Anderson's book, The Traditional Way, on page 182 is the story of the incident at the One Shot Antelope Hunt near Lander, WY. The object was to shoot a Pronghorn antelope with one shot.

The gist of the story is that Howard took a shot from his blind, but the bow tip hit the blind and ruined the shot. He informed the officials he was disqualified and went to fill his tag, which he did. He drove to where Fred Bear was set up to show him the antelope. Fred was patiently waiting for two antelope to line up so he could shoot both with one arrow. When Howard drove up he scared the antelope and they scattered. Needless to say, Fred was outraged. They almost came to blows, but Howard was able to calm down Fred. Howard apologized, but the damage was done. I guess that ended any friendship they might of had.

Great pictures. The canoes are beautiful, much better looking than anything made from modern materials.

Great picture, thanks for posting them. As a high school kid I used to dream about hunts like those in the picture. i am glad to see Fred Bear remembered by so many of today’s archers.
