The Polar Bear mount was stolen from the museum in Grayling; I don't believe it was recovered. I think the first Polar was dispatched with a rifle. I wonder what came after 1970 with his takedown? The Tiger, spotted deer, sambar, blue bull and ariatic buffalo were taken in India with a dog-leg 63 Kodiak.

In his book "Field Notes", the asiatic buffalo was I think the last hunt in the book and he and Bob Munger went to Brazil for that. That hunt always sounds like a miserable time, I always think he should have went to Australia for that buffalo!

Looks like Fred enjoyed hunting moose and bear. Whitetails were home game.

I'm surprised not one wild hog is listed on the North American list. I read somewhere that Howard enjoyed hunting hogs the most.

Yes Darren, that is kind of surprising, considering he was in Florida for quite a few years while he was still hunting I believe?
You would think some one in his "circle" would have taken him for some hog hunts down there? Must not have appealed to Fred,
but would have given him some good ribs to roast, his specialty!

I don’t think that Fred considered pigs as big game. I mean look at what Fred hunted for and bagged in his life time of bowhunting.

More brown and grizzly bears than I realized.   There's a video of him taking a brown bear on the beach.  He hides behind a big boulder and takes the shot at a scary close distance.

If bag limits on whitetail had been what they are now he probably would have been way over 38.
