From Archery magazine 1947.

Buy a bow and a hunting dog? Maybe a bird to sing to me while I make arrows?

Also, he spelled Pearson wrong.

That's a hoot Ira.

Archery magazine was by far the best.  I read my stack over and over.  Some really funny ads.   "Birds and Bows" cracked me up [eek]

Is this an Uncle Roger's looooongbow?

He certainly has Ben's last name spelled wrong, however he might have just mixed up his suppliers names, as there was also a E. Bud Pierson that was an archery supplier out of the Chicago area I think. Who knows!

Bob, I had the exact same thought about E. Bud Pierson. They were in Cincinnati.

I remember there was a book that was supposed to be princeps edition, checked for typos and misspelling by 3 different agencies and when the book came out there was a typo on the title on the cover page.
Now back to the topic, if it is a family business in a small town, why not? I am more interested in the quality of the bow than in what store someone is selling it.

I believe that store was just down the road from Cousin Bob's Small Animal Hospital And Jerky Emporium...

Charles "Charlie" Pierson passed away peacefully on October 6th, 2010, following a long illness.

A master craftsman and one of the nation's finest bowyers, Charlie was also a master flight shooter, having won many titles with the foot bow as well as establishing new distances in flight archery. His expertise playing "Archery Golf" made him a sought-after teacher for his technique at long distance shots with a hand-held flight bow of his design. His bows were famous among top flight archers, including Harry Drake and Dr. Bert Grayson. The unique design and exotic woods used by Charlie Pierson made many of his bows worthy of museum quality, including the famous "Sultan Bow."

Not quite related, but sorta...
Ebay has some interesting things just now in the archery, vintage and collectable section, including a collection of Bear archery advertisements (bow information).

Also an earlier Pearson Deadhead that i haven't even seen advertised in a while, if ever
