Hello all,
First post here.  I have enjoyed archery since I was about 8 years old.  Started with a light lemonwood straight bow.  Still using my Herter's International Match Hunter recurve.  (44# @ 28").  Bought it new in 1964.

Some questions -
1.  What is the definition of an ASL?
2.  What are the shooting differences between long (straight) bows and recurve bows?
3.  Are aluminum arrows (Gamegetter XX 1916) OK for the recurve?
4.  Shooting differences between wood arrows and aluminum or carbon?

Been shooting for awhile, just not with others and am behind the technology curve.  Thanks in advance for any answers and information.

Hi Dave. Yup, welcome.

Try as Draven pointed out. You are not alone, others have asked and collectively, we discussed. Sometimes the discussions were....interesting.

Feel free to ask, or tell us your mind.

I am envious of your bow!

There's a lot of that around here, including myself.  [smile]

quick basic  reply/answers to your questions
1. ASL (American Semi Longbow) like a Hill style straight limbs  that are either set back (point away from you when unstrung) straight up and down, or string follow (lean back towards you when Un strung)

2. have to find this one out for yourself by shooting- so many differences of openion some think the recurve more effichient (Probably true) and more stable /easier to shoot
I personaly like the ASL with set back best  I tend to shoot them better for what I do
3.those arrows will probably work out of your recurve just fine
4 wood more  of a personal how you feel thing , more intune with old  nostalgia  ASL kinda thing
aluminum probably overall beter I like Wood

hope this helps

Thanks for the welcomes.  I am working on the search methods.  Until then, y'all stay safe and get out and shoot as much as possible.
