Cool stories Jacques. I can see how she was confused! Sometime, you should have someone take some footage of you shooting for those of us that may never get the chance to shoot with you...

Yeah, Tim, it was my only chance to participate in the championship!!! I wasn't going home a second place!!!
When I was warming up in the am Sunday, waiting for the target number I was to wait for the shotgun start, I was shooting my quiver full of arrows into the head of a fox at thirty five yards, wicked tight group!!!
Stan, was in the bleachers along with five thousand or more people! Stan said to Kevin, do you see that? Kevin's reply was, yeah, yeah I do!!!
Stan commented oh the boys are going to get an ass whopping today!!!!!!
The qualifying round had me tied with two other shooters, I made sure in the final round, not to give them a chance!!
As it turned out 16 of the 28 targets my arrow was the only one in the target!!! This was and still is the big deal!!!!

Just a little back story! I had been talking about this Championship for months with my wife!!! I invited Stan Levy, of Berwick, Maine and Kevin Coleman of Manchester, N.H. to join me on this adventure!! I just simply charged everything on my credit card!!! The flight, hotel suite, and the car rental in Birmingham,Alabama!!! Well the great weekend went well, very well!!! Only one exception, we missed our flight time, seems as though, we spent to much time at Howard and Elizabeth's grave site!!!
Well that in itself wouldn't be a big deal!!
Except, Stan called his wife to let her know we had missed our flight!!!! Now Stan's wife, Melissa called my wife, Gail to let her know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife, thought we were at a local tournament, camping for the weekend!!!! Boy, oh boy, she was hopping mad at the three of us for not telling her we were going to Wilsonville, Alabama!!!!!!!
It took a long time before she forgave me, Stan and Kevin were forgiven right away!!! I am the black sheep who does what he wants anyway!!!!

A rainy evening
in the blue ridge mountains
on a deer and turkey hunt
in a cozy wall tent
with a whiff of Lucky Strike
and those stories
time of life

You tell your bride you’re going to a local shoot and meanwhile you hop on a plane, and rent a car? Well, they say adventure without risk, really isn’t adventure!!!

Great stories Jacques! Keep ‘em coming

Well, there is more!!! I had been home about three weeks, when I get a call from Mr.Jerry Hill!!! It appears to taken him that long to figure out who his mother gave the Howard Hill World longbow Championship banner to!!!! Yep, you guessed it, it was me, as she took a slight shine to me for my effort!!!! Mr.Jerry Hill asked for it back, he said he would send me one of Howard's personal arrows, if I did!!!! I believe it was an all white shaft and fletchings, with a blue nock, blunt tip!!!!!
I sure wished I could have kept the banner!!!!
I am planning to post more pictures of interest under the appropriate titles later as time allows!!!
Before the photos and the history of the events disappear!!! Enjoy, humbly Jacques
