Yes 154@28! Hello guys, This bow was given to me by a good friend. It was given to him from the wife of the late Don Brown. She wrote the info that is on the tag. The limbs are bamboo lams and not hickory. This bow was specially made for Don Brown @ 154# Because Don wanted to be the first man known to shoot a bow that matched his body weight. Yes Howard Hill shot heavier bow weights but not a weight equal to his body weight. My friend who was a very good friend of Don said that in the process of Don loosing weight to equal the bow is the time his health started to fail. I’m sure if John Schulz made this bow he would know all about this build.

Wow, that is cool! I hunted with a 115# bow for about 8 years and I thought that was a thick bow. Ol’ bad looks almost twice as thick as that one did!

3 strikes against me!  It' a lefty, I'd never be able to "loose" that much weight, and I couldn't pull it anyway!

I have the article written about Don years ago. It mentions his goal to shoot a bow equal to his weight. How he hunted rabbits with a 125# bow and shot field archery rounds as well. I was fortunate to get him to sign my copy of that article the year before he passed. He came down to Escondido to Bearstate Bowhunters Trad shoots.

Tom , Jerry Hill posted about Don Brow and about the time he came to California. He said he stoped at a archery store and herd of a bowyer working on a bow for Don. You believe it was Steve Abbot. I believe this is the bow Jerry was talking about. It was made by John Schultz and refinished by ? Steve Abbot?

Could have been. It’s been awhile, 20 years?, since I saw either one of them. I don’t recall them talking to each other. Steve was usually busy showing his bows as was Don selling his merchandise. I wouldn’t doubt Steve did the refinish. Maybe Don’s widow remembers if she is still around?

Love that Bow!

I have been looking for a Bow in the 120# range. I did shoot a 150# English Longbow a couple years ago but I think that was at 32 inches and my draw is 29. I talked to Steve at Northern Mist at the Kalamazoo show and the biggest he has made was 180#! That is just stupid BIG.

I have one that exceeds 100# .  Not sure of the exact weight because the scale doesn't go high enough.   It's unfinished in the shop.  Been wondering what to do with it for a couple years!  It's yours for the cost of materials.
